Hey all,
I hope everyone is keeping safe during these trying times… and washing their hands regularly.
Before I begin, I wish to thank all who are on the frontlines of this pandemic for their selfless dedication, putting themselves at risk for all of us. I don’t think I’m the only one who feels deeply humbled and forever grateful towards those who are going above and beyond to make sure our sick are being treated and cared for, our shelves are stocked, and services running as best they can with limited staff and resources.
As for myself, I’m staying home and doing my best to entertain my three-year-old daughter, changing the nappies of my newborn at an exponential rate, and getting as many household chores done as possible to stave off the cabin fever.
Reading-wise, I’ve just finished Dean Koontz’s Nameless series of short stories about a “fixer” with amnesia, limitless resources, righting the wrongs the legal system has been unable to achieve (or even try in a couple of cases).
It didn’t take me long to rattle through them. Each “episode” (six in total) pretty much runs smoothly for the protagonist, with convenience playing its roll anytime there’s the possibility for problems. As much as each story was predictable, I found the ending to be an absolutely brilliant idea which I found somewhat wasted on a lacklustre story. It’s a shame Mr Koontz didn’t use it for one full-length novel.
Aside from this, if you’re looking for an easy read full of nasty people getting their comeuppance, I’d give it a bash to pass an hour or two.
I’ve now returned to reading Ken Follet’s, The Pillars of the Earth, which I’m thoroughly enjoying. I’ll blog my review when I’ve finished it.
On my writing, I’ve got roughly seven chapters to go on the new Knights of the Hour novel. I just completed a chapter full of character backstory last night which I’m happy with (I won’t spoil it and reveal which character). This is the first sequel I’ve written and I find that it’s given me plenty scope to thicken up each of my characters as they endure everything I throw at them.
Before I go, I thought I’d mention how important it is to leave a review on Amazon. At the start of the lockdown (UK), over the course of a couple of days, I made two of my novels available for free. If anyone reading this acquired one, or have purchased any of my books in the past, I’d be forever grateful if you took the time to give an honest review of my work.
Take care
G
