Friday 13th March…

A bit of an ominous day to begin your very first blog, but here it goes…

I’ve no idea why it’s taken me so long to start a blog (I’ll wager procrastination had a hand in it) but after months of continually forgetting to update my mailing list, I feel this is probably the best way to let you all know how my latest projects are progressing without veering me too far away from my writing.

It’s also an easier way of keeping in touch with my readers more often.

My current project, The Fractured Peace – Knights of the Hour Book 2, is nearing the end of its first draft. I started it at the tail end of October and I’m happy with what I’ve got down so far. The Fall of the Hour was always intended to be a light run-up to the main events of the story (It’s final word count was roughly 56k words). The Fractured Peace is currently sitting at 80k words and I should surpass the big 100k by the end.

Once that’s finished, I’ll have about a month to jot down the basis for Book 2 in my dystopian trilogy (currently titled Neon Resistance).

As well as my writing, I’ve been ploughing through some historical fiction. I’ve just finished The She-Wolf, by Maurice Druon, book 5 in the accursed kings series based on the downfall of the french Capetian dynasty and the start of the Hundred Years’ War. I’m also about a third of the way through Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth and despite its length I’m struggling to put it down.

Medieval English history has fascinated me for a long time and it has inspired me to lay the groundwork for a historical fiction novel of my own. The novel is quite far down the line of future projects so hopefully I’ll get a chance to start it within the next couple of years.

Anyway, I’ll sign off my first blog and will strive to make them as regular as possible.
